The Trade Compliance Officer (TCO) leads Trade Compliance Matters in the Local Business Line (LBL) and provide business / solution-oriented support to the LBL under guidance of Country Trade Compliance Officer (CTCO) with the aim of complying with national and international customs and trade regulations. The TCO proactively contributes to ABB’s risk avoidance program and trade efficiency considering LBL’s operational needs and its value chain processes.

Your responsibilities

• Provide guidance and operational support to the Local Business Line (LBL) regarding customs, origin, export control and international sanction regulations (“Trade Compliance”), challenge, develop and improve processes of LBL’s customs procedures, origin management, sanction lists screening, dual-use classification and export controls


• Supervise the implementation of ABB’s Trade Compliance Program and its internal directives (GDLI30, CHALI30) in the LBL


• Prepare, improve and communicate instructions, guidelines and training regarding Trade Compliance in the LBL in accordance with the guidelines provided by CTCO


• Monitor trade compliance functions (e.g. product classification engineers, customs tariff coders)


• Contribute and manage internal (group) and external audits (customs)


• Maintain close relations with CTCO, TCS, ECA, Declarants and Logistics department within the LD/LBU


• Develop and carry out internal checks (internal control system) on trade compliance aspects (incoterms, HS codes, export control, sanctions screening, critical assessments, preferential origin aspects, import and export efficiency)


• (optional) responsible person for export licenses with the SECO

Your background

• Compliance/Integrity and/or Legal background preferred


• Experience in trade compliance matters


• Project management and matrix leadership


• Willingness to learn


• SAP and SAP GTS experience


• Fluent English and German


• Team player with good communication skills
