Position Summary


The Commercial Operations role will be responsible for quantitative and qualitative analytics providing product, patient and customer knowledge information to the Sales and Marketing teams. The role will ideally lead or support cross cluster strategies and alignment together with the two General Managers for the region. The position will also partner with local inter departmental stakeholders in the cluster and also with the International Commercial Operations Team.


The incumbent will be an individual contributor supporting the local teams through understanding their needs and providing them with outputs and training on the relevant Alexion solutions, and insights derived from self-directed research. In this regard, the person will need to be an expert on Commercial Operations Systems, Tools & Processes, effectively demonstrating how they meet business needs. Proactivity in understanding and meeting stakeholder needs is a must.


This role requires curiosity and the willingness to continually seek new information sources in the rare treatment space, usual data sources provide limited insight and a drive to look deeper will be an essential asset.


An ability to work with a high level of self-determination to add value and support the business is a requirement of suitability for this position.


This role will report to one of the General Managers in the region and will have a dotted line to the second General Manager plus a dotted line to the International Commercial Operations Country/Cluster Lead.


 


Principal Responsibilities



  • Reporting, required

    • Ensure in depth understanding of the relevant therapy areas in order to support teams on targeting and relevant analysis

    • Identify and communicate local needs to International Commercial Operations colleagues to ensure all necessary dashboards are in place – and find temporary interim solutions where none are present

    • Identify and recommend Key Performance Indicators (such as sales trend, coverage of target, concentration curve) to describe and better understand trend, variances and performance

    • Provide regular reports and insightful analyses to the Team in the cluster through utilizing the data available in the Alexion reporting system, (sales trend, report on Field force Activity, coverage of customer target and frequency of visits…), supplemented with relevant ad hoc analysis

    • Proactively develop a set of analysis highlighting business insights which are useful and relevant to internal stakeholders like emerging product trends, common behaviors of customers…

    • Ensure insights are clearly communicated and are relevant to support business decisions

    • Be able to articulate that which is known and that which could be understood further along with recommendations of how to fill the gaps

    • Ensure the Country Leadership Team have the necessary data inputs and insights for the Monthly Business Review, Quarterly Business Review and Local Business Review meetings

    • Support business decisions of Sales and Marketing team providing innovative solutions, advanced statistics and visualization of key data e.g by region

    • Provide insightful analysis to the Situation Analysis as part of the Annual Brand Planning Process, to facilitate appropriate resource allocation

    • Train colleagues and specifically sales teams to ensure self-sufficiency in reviewing the data/reports available to them in the Alexion reporting system

    • Optimize existing reports improving usability and structure

    • Act as local data steward being responsible of the correctness and coherence of information provided internally, ensuring and implementing the appropriate correction process where necessary
       


  • Customer Relationship Management Tool, required

    • Maintain correct functionality of the VEEVA CRM and Alexion reporting systems and ensure good quality of data stored into them

    • Ensure needs from sales and marketing e.g. messages and cycle plans are available in the system on time and with the required quality

    • Design and conduct local training for new employees and plan and deliver update sessions when requested

    • Collect enhancement requests from users and manage appropriate system updates with the International and Global team

    • Manage autonomously troubleshooting of the system (require corrections of bugs, monitor reporting on status, manage recovery and temporary plan for long term resolutions..)
       


  • Cluster Leadership Support, desired

    • Member of cross functional Nordics and Alpine leadership teams

    • Drive cross cluster synergies in commercial operations

    • Provide input & partnership to help facilitate successful launches e.g. cross indication synergies for SF,

    • Lead key North cluster projects e.g. cross functional launch lead of new indication (NMOSD), evaluation and execution of growth opportunities

    • Ideally the role will also

      • Deliver strategic support to country teams and GMs, and create alignment across commercial functions and indications

      • Support cross cluster strategies and alignment together with GMs Nordics and Alpine
         





  • Support implementation of the Sales Incentive Plan, including calculations on a quarterly or semi-annual basis to support payouts and to make adjustments to the plan if required

  • Be an expert on all compliance related topics impacting Commercial Operations activities and support implementation and updating of documents and processes

  • Respond with high quality to ad hoc requests with a sense of urgency and fully addressing the needs of stakeholders – an ability to support the iterative process with enthusiasm and a can-do attitude is a must

  • The incumbent may be asked to perform other function-related activities in addition to the above mentioned responsibilities as reasonably required by the business needs

  • An ability to influence a range of internal stakeholders to see the value of data analytics


Qualifications


Ideally 5 + years analytical and reporting experience; preferably in Pharma Industry and Management Consulting Industry



  • Fluent in English mandatory

  • Previous pharmaceutical related experience is preferred

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, preferred knowledge of Access and SAP and statistical packages

  • Preferred experience with VEEVA (or other CRM) and data visualisation technology

  • Experience using technology to work efficiently with datasets such as scripting and statistical software packages

  • Understanding of incentive compensation schemes and analysis a plus

  • Strong writing and oral presentation skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Experience of creating bespoke reports/presentations to meet business needs with limited support


Education


Degree preferably in Statistics, Economics, Finance or Computer Science.
