Internship Project Management (80-100%)

The intern may take over project management responsibly for a GIS customer project (operational). He/she will act as the contact to the customer and represent the project towards other departments. Additionally, the intern will take a lead in an internal project to help improve our tools and processes (strategic). The intern will get a deep insight of all aspects of project management and the operational business of a large business unit. The Internship is for a period 9-12 months with start date either 1 April 2020 or 1 June 2020.


Your responsibilities



  • Operational:

  • Project manager responsibility of one or more GIS customer project(s) in collaboration with an experienced project manager including:

  • - plan project(s) in terms of costs and schedule

  • - drive engineering phase and ensure technical issue are resolved quickly

  • - ensure that cost budget is met

  • - prepare and lead customer meetings

  • - organize logistics and ensure material arrives safely at customer

  • - advise field operation resources efficiently so that our substations can be energized on time

  • Strategic:

  • Process Improvement. This part of the assignment will allow the intern to execute and implement aspects of project management that are not covered by daily operational work, including:

  • - participation in various cost-out projects in collaboration with other departments

  • - improvement of process documentation (workflows, process visualization, continuous

  • - improvement process according to lean six sigma principles)

  • - improvement of project management Tools

  • - collaboration with our supporting team abroad

  • Actual split of tasks to be mutually agreed depending on profile and business needs


Your background



  • Experienced and interested in working with people at the interface of technology and commercial topics

  • Technical background (BSc or MSc in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering)

  • Knowledge of business administration is helpful

  • Languages: English is mandatory, German is a plus and further languages are beneficial

  • Good communication skills required

  • High commitment and ability to adapt to new situations

  • Self-driven personality who is willing to take responsibility
