30%-60%, Zurich, temporary

The team of the newly founded Botnar Child Health Research Centre Multi-Investigator Project “Precision Microbiota Engineering for Child Health” is looking for a Project Manager. The project is led by ETH Zurich, together with the University of Basel, Kinderspital Zurich, University Hospital Zurich, and the Paul Scherrer Institute.

The Botnar Research Centre for Child Health (BRCCH) funds this project for five years. The BRCCH has been jointly started by the University of Basel and ETH Zurich in 2019. The BRCCH is dedicated to support medical research for children and adolescents and the implementation of novel solutions particularly in low and middle-income countries.

Job description

The project team is seeking an individual with expertise in clinical trial regulatory affairs and ethics to manage parts of the project involving cooperation between laboratory and clinic-based scientists, as well as to develop a roadmap for clinical translation. Your commitment will make a substantial contribution towards the mission of the project and its aim to create novel solutions for the health of children and adolescents worldwide.

Your tasks within the project:

  • Ensuring the timely and comprehensive complication of clinical and pre-clinical ethics applications and reports.

  • Maintaining oversight of patient recruitment, and banking and distribution of samples.

  • Organising and coordinating a contact hub for the sharing and organization of samples, communal data and protocols.

  • Development of a roadmap to first-in-human clinical trials of precision microbiota engineering.

  • Organisation of consortium meetings and retreats.

  • Building clinical links to low- and middle-income countries for translation into countries with critical medical requirements.

We offer the opportunity to join the core team of a highly innovative project, with considerable potential to change that way we manage microbiota-associated diseases. The work will be closely aligned with the Botnar Research Centre for Child Health, and offers the possibility to work with different clinical and academic institutions within Switzerland, as well as to move into international project management.

Your profile

  • We are looking for an individual with experience in vaccine or next-generation probiotic development/function and/or microbiota intervention studies.

  • Experience in clinical research, as well as training in regulatory affairs and ethics in Switzerland is essential.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and German and a proven track-record in multi-investigator project management are requirements.

  • A sound knowledge of standard IT tools is expected.

  • Knowledge of electronic data management tools such as OpenBIS would be beneficial.
