The Extracellular Matrix Rejuvenation Laboratory of Prof. Dr. Collin Y. Ewald, Institute for Translational Medicine, Department of Health Sciences and Technology has an opening for a fully SNF-funded two years Postdoctoral Position. The starting date is 1 June 2020.
Project title: "Protein homeostasis of extracellular proteins during aging". For more background, please read: Ewald 2019 Gerontology "The Matrisome during Aging and Longevity: A Systems-Level Approach toward Defining Matreotypes Promoting Healthy Aging" (also available as preprint).
More specifically, the major aim of this project is to identify age-dependent collagen glycation in C. elegans and potential repair or removal mechanisms. This includes repairing collagen crosslinking and extracellular matrix stiffening also with regards to wound healing and aging.
The successful applicant should have a PhD in molecular biology or biochemistry and experience in working with C. elegans. Only candidates fresh out of a successful PhD are considered. The candidate must be highly motivated with a curiousity for making scientific discoveries.
