Great science needs great people: join CERN’s Human Resources Department as an HR assistant to play your part in advancing scientific research.


If you have a genuine interest in people and HR operations, hands-on experience dealing with HR matters, along with an eye for detail and proven interpersonal skills, this is the right position for you. CERN, take part!


You will join CERN's Human Resources (HR) Department, which develops initiatives and provides strategic support to CERN Management with regard to human resources policy. It supports line management in the departments, performs centralised service tasks, and ensures CERN-wide application of operational human resources activities. The main areas of responsibility include organisational development, employment and association conditions, recruitment, job classification and salary administration, performance appraisal, advancement, internal mobility, training and development, social services, social security, working conditions, settlement of disputes and relations with the personnel.


This vacancy is for a number of administrative support positions in CERN’s HR Department.


Functions


As an HR Assistant, you will join one of the CERN HR teams to contribute to the diverse activities of the Department. This includes the following areas:


Cards Office:



  • In collaboration with internal and external services, manage the requests (initial, extension, and cancellation) for the CERN Host State French and Swiss legitimation cards for all members of personnel and their families.

  • Provide a welcome service for all visitors to the Cards service: guide, orient and respond to the associated diverse questions arising in the context of legitimation documents for the CERN Host States.

  • Manage relevant information, documentation, procedures and reports related to cards and visas and their timely updates as required.

  • Take part in the continuous improvements of the tools and processes used for legitimation cards management.


Frontline Support:



  • Support the human resources advisers and the Group Leader in delivering first class service to staff members.

  • Process a wide variety of confidential administrative actions throughout the career of staff members.

  • Contribute to streamlining and improving several HR administrative processes.


Learning & Development:



  • Support the Learning Specialist in ensuring the delivery of high-quality in-house trainings in the scientific and technical domains (more than 200 courses per year for all members of personnel).

  • Organise, plan and run the logistics of training courses using CERN's Learning Management System as well as keep up-to-date the relating procedures.

  • Prepare regular publications of the training programme information and update the relevant internal Web pages.

  • Produce statistics and reports on training courses as needed.


Compensation & Benefits:



  • Provide administrative and specialist support to various HR processes related to remuneration, job classification and performance management; contribute to their streamlining and improvement.

  • Maintain and develop related procedures and documentation; inform stakeholders (within HR and across the Organization).

  • Produce statistics and reports on the processes.


Qualifications



  • Higher administrative diploma or equivalent relevant experience in the field of HR or a related field.

  • Good understanding and a keen interest in HR functions and best practices.


Experience:



  • Proven experience as an HR Assistant or relevant human resources/administrative position in an international environment.

  • Specifically, for the Compensation & Benefits position, experience in a financial environment will be considered as an advantage.

  • HR administration.

Language skills:



  • Spoken and written English or French: ability to understand and speak both languages in professional contexts as well as the ability to prepare/draft and/or translate accurate texts in both languages.
