Role purpose



  • Accountable for managing the successful deployment of Learning & Talent solutions across Switzerland

  • Managing the matrix of internal Learning & Talent Stakeholder and internal business stakeholders ensuring that all demand captured through AOP/Annual Demand plan is successfully deployed

  • To be the focal point in Switzerland when deploying learning solutions.

  • Contributing to the creation of Learning & Talent demand from Switzerland

  • To ensure that the business regularly receives appropriate tracking MI to evaluate the impact of technical learning interventions, and recommends action to improve outcomes

  • To contribute as a member of the Specialist Learning function supporting the Switzerland business/function

  • To understand what mandatory learning is required and to ensure this is properly communicated and tracked

  • To be aware of present and forthcoming regulatory requirements and ensure properly supported by learning

  • To be able to work with the ambiguity and complexity of the matrix environment

  • Managing multiple business and HR stakeholders concurrently.


Principal accountabilities:


Impact on the Business



  • Deploys a learning plan for Switzerland which is aligned to global learning solutions demand plan

  • Manages cost to ensure that learning is deployed in the most cost effective manner whilst maintaining and exceeding quality assurance standards


Customers/Stakeholders




  • Works with HR colleagues to successfully deploy learning solutions

  • Manages and involves key stakeholders to timely and cost effective delivery¨

  • Perceived by business/function to be knowledgeable, credible and reliable, capable of appropriate challenge Leadership & Teamwork

  • Energetically manages delivery, demonstrating fluent capability to work in matrixed organisation,

  • Proactively interacts with other HR and business executives to understand overarching issues and to leverage ideas

  • Effectively leads, influences and communicates across the Region, building strong relationships with HR functional peers


Operational Effectiveness & Control




  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and Bank policies initiating corrective action where necessary

  • Acts to resolve any issues associated with delivery to client group, ensuring appropriate stakeholders identify and take required steps

  • Manages local costs for learning initiatives for client group and monitors people plans and budgets


Major Challenges




  • A fundamental requirement is having both a strong business/function understanding together with a deep knowledge of the global/ learning approach to ensure the deployment of globally led learning approaches on a consistent local basis.

  • The matrixed nature of the business and the need to facilitate effective matrix-managed decisions.


Role Context




  • Whilst traditional in-depth functional experience is still valued, competitive strategic perspectives and experience gained from broader roles or consultancy are becoming increasingly important.


Management of Risk




  • Complies with HR risk policies and standards

  • Ensures initiatives are in accordance with Group Risk standards and policy.

  • Manages and mitigates risks associated with Learning in support of the Country business/function


Observation of Internal Controls




  • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.

 

Qualifications

 

Experience and Qualifications 


Essential requirements:



  • Functional Expertise – Successful track record of delivering a suite of HR/Learning interventions. 

  • Corporate Exposure – Extensive Learning experience within fast-moving, complex and demanding corporate environments where operational Learning issues have to be handled on scale, and with a need to multi-task and deal with ambiguity.

  • Operating in global markets – Experience of working at an operational level in international environments which drive a true international perspective. Business/function experience in different markets and cultures.

  • Team Leadership – Experience of having led teams of HR professionals, raising standards within the function and improving the profile of HR within a business.

  • Managing Change – Experience of managing transformation and change programmes across dispersed entities, winning buy-in at the top and driving it against resistance in a global and matrixed environment.  Working with senior teams on restructuring and re-engineering, e.g. following mergers and acquisitions.

  • Exposure to Corporate Governance – Experience of diverse regulatory frameworks in large multi-nationals.

  • Business/function Awareness – Demonstrate up to date knowledge of the external environment, the competitive landscape and broad macro-economic trends and an understanding of the use of this knowledge to create competitive advantage and to bring traditionally siloed functional specialists together and think holistically about human capital and organisational culture.

  • Demonstrable Success – able to demonstrate clear examples of having led work that provided performance improvement or measurable value to the business.

  • Consultancy Exposure – Experience of, or exposure to, leading consultancies

  • Strong reputation in the external market

  • Fluent in English and possibly French is an asset

  • As a minimum requirement we would require: Swiss or EU citizen or valid Swiss work permit /visa holder


Desirable experience:



  • Financial Management – Experience of managing departmental finances, major supplier negotiations and contract management. 

  • Process and Technology – Experience of delivering Learning solutions through the design and application of process and technology. Defining and using relevant and efficient HR metrics.

  • Service Management - Experience of service management, or working with suppliers through strict service level agreements.
