The Clinical Operations Unit at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute is seeking a self-motivated, enthusiastic Lead Clinical Research Associate to join our team.
The Clinical Operations Unit is a well-established Clinical Research Service Provider integrated within the Institute. Through our wide network of collaborators, partners and experience, we understand the barriers to delivering clinical trials in difficult settings. We offer strategic, customized and optimized solutions to deliver high quality, high performing clinical trials and meet populations’ needs. This is a unique opportunity to join a multicultural, dedicated team, working in a stimulating academic environment with in-depth scientific expertise in the field of poverty related diseases.

The key function of this post would be to help set-up clinical trials (phase I to phase III), coordinate and facilitate the conduct and safety of these trials.

Main tasks



  • Responsibility for clinical trial monitoring

    • Coordinating and performing clinical trial site visits in resource limited countries

    • Develop monitoring strategies together with the project lead

    • Developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with investigational sites and clients

    • Supervising a team of local monitors


  • Supporting project management

  • Managing study documentation


Your profile





  • Msc degree in Biology, Pharmacy or a related life science field

  • Substantial experience as CRA in Pharmaceutical or CRO environment
    (minimum 3 years)

  • Good knowledge of ICH-GCP and relevant regulations

  • Fluent in French and English, both spoken and written (German as an asset)

  • Flexibility & willingness to travel up to 20% to resource limited countries

  • Team player with good communication skills

  • Precise working style

  • Ability to work independently

  • Interest in tropical diseases

  • Experience in remote monitoring, demonstrated leadership and management skills are an asset

Start Date: February 2020 or upon agreement

Location: Basel, Switzerland

Percentage: 80-100%
