Project Engineering Lead

The Forum already has a history of building digital collaboration platforms, knowledge and data tools, and digital events for our constituents. For our next stage of growth, we are developing Uplink, a new, open-source digital platform to foster mass participation from entrepreneurs, community groups and other interested parties or individuals to meet the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

 

We are looking for a Project Engineering Lead who will bring strong technical and leadership skills to support the implementation of the platform. Exceptionally clear documentation and communication skills, capacity to take impactful decisions on the platform architecture and the ability to thrive flexibly within a complex organization are necessary. The position will also require the ability to inspire the development teams towards the delivery of a solid and innovative platform by aligning methodology and defining the technical roadmap.

 

Reporting Lines & Interactions

Part of the Forum IT Team, the Project Engineering Lead reports to the Head of Engineering. They are the interface between Leadership, product management and technical teams, mainly external developers.

 

The successful candidate will be assessed on

Leading the Project Development team to design, build, deploy and support the new Forum online community platform.

• Leading the implementation and shaping the high-level architecture


• Ensuring own platform infrastructure is integrated within the existing Forum digital ecosystem in collaboration with fellow platform leads


• Distributing work among development teams based on respective expertise


• Ensuring applications are documented and shared across teams


• Reviewing progress, planning rollout schedule and reporting to Leadership


• Working closely with QA and Digital Success to plan on testing and second level support


• Help defining and implementing metrics that inform the success of the platform.


• Setting the short and long-term strategy for the platform technology based on trends and innovations

 

Formula for Success

• Broad intellectual background with a university-level education in computer science, mechanical/electrical engineering, physics or related field


• 5 years of relevant industry experience in technical project management or engineering lead


• Fluency in English, with excellent written, digital and verbal communication skills


• Experience working closely with engineering delivery teams and following a structured development process, preferably in an Agile environment


• Experience with the software development tools/platform space, including an issue-tracking software (e.g. JIRA)


• Strong knowledge in service-oriented architecture and system integration


• Salesforce Community experience is a plus
