Data Scientist (Thomson Reuters Labs – Zurich Region)

Are you a curious and open minded person with a background in programming and data analytics?  We would like to hear from you.

At Thomson Reuters Labs you will get a unique opportunity to work in a global company with a huge amount of data. You will be:

• Building prototypes and proof-of-concepts to test the feasibility of ideas by practically applying data science skills and tools


• Processing and working with large and diverse data sets using big data and public cloud technology


• Defining, organizing and running projects across multiple locations and time zones


• Understanding and translating end user needs to requirements using design thinking methodologies


• Developing and broadening your skills through mentoring and collaboration with experienced professionals

Required Qualifications

• Master’s Degree or PhD in relevant field such as computer science, statistics, computational linguistics, applied mathematics, physics or a related discipline.


• Solid spoken and written English

Experience and interests

We think you have worked with several of these in the past:

• Text mining, big data, or machine learning (experience gained through academic research or internships may meet this requirement)


• Programming and scripting languages (Python, R, Java, C#, Scala)


• Natural language processing and analyzing unstructured data


• Big data technologies (E.g. Spark, Hadoop, Hive)


• API’s and databases (Relational, NoSQL, Graph databases)


• Data Visualization


• Cloud Technology

Soft Skills

Given the range of projects and tasks you will be working for we also think you should be:

• Curious to learn about business requirements, individual user personas and needs


• Confident communicator with ability to present and explain complex concepts to any audience


• Versatile to assume different roles in different projects


• Ability to independently work on several projects in parallel
