The Director, Patient Advocacy Alzheimer’s disease, is accountable for the development and implementation of an integrated Patient Advocacy Strategy for Europe for Alzheimer’s Disease. This person will provide strategic guidance and expertise to support successful Alzheimer’s Patient Advocacy in the EU affiliates with focus on the EU (UK, FR, DE, IT, S, CAN and Nordics). The person will build and deepen relationships with key external stakeholder and drive Biogen’s position in neuroscience while shaping our thought leadership in Alzheimer’s disease and preparing the community for a first potential DMT in Alzheimer’s.
The person will be an integral part of the Alzheimer’s ELOT, providing strategic counsel and implementation support on patient advocacy.
This position requires strong collaboration and networking across Biogen. As a member of the International and Global Corporate Affairs team, this role will work cross-functionally with colleagues in global, regional and in the affiliates. Travel up to 30% of the time.
1. Strategic Patient Advocacy: Develop and execute a Patient Advocacy strategy for Europe Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) and contribute to the Global Patient Advocacy Plan for AD, positioning Biogen as a leading neuroscience company that can be a valuable resource for advocacy organizations and other health care policy influencers.
2. Patient Advocacy Leadership to support launch preparations: Support the development of critical launch preparation work including workstreams around key milestones, access and awareness. Ensure patient advocacy perspective is well integrated and supports our business objectives as appropriate.
3. Affiliate support with focus on Big Five in Europe, Canada and the Nordics: Provide strategic counsel and support to affiliates and ensure alignment with global patient advocacy plan and business objectives.
Be a strategic partner to internal teams and develop advocacy tactics that meet business needs while being beneficial to the communities we serve.
4. External Stakeholder Engagement: Build and deepen strategic relationship with critical external stakeholders in the Alzheimer’s Disease Community at pan-EU and when appropriate at national level in collaboration with affiliate leads. Identify opportunities for partnerships in areas of mutual interest and support external stakeholders’ understanding of Biogen’s needs and agenda.
5. Thought leadership: Stay abreast of internal and external developments and industry trends as they pertain to Biogen priorities, and identify opportunities for Biogen to share and shape the external environment in support of our business objectives.
