The position is part of Prof. Francesco Audrino's chair in Statistics at the University of St.Gallen. It is assumed that candidates for this position are willing to start a Ph. D. in Finance and Economics (PEF) at the University of St. Gallen. Topics for the thesis can cover both theoretical and empirical methods in statistics, computational methods, and financial econometrics. The position will be part of the group in Mathematics and Statistics at the University of St.Gallen, www.mathstat.unisg.ch/. The new Ph. D. candidate is expected to interact strongly with the professors of the Institute of Mathematic and Statistic in the development of the thesis, as well as with professors and post-docs of the Department of Economics. They are also expected to collaborate in the development of the teaching activities of the group in the areas of Statistics, Econometrics, and Financial Econometrics.

Candidate Profile





  • Master degree in economics, finance, mathematics, statistics, data science (with some studies in economics), or related fields.

  • Willingness to write a Ph. D. thesis in (computational) statistics or financial econometrics at the University of St. Gallen (PEF program).

  • Strong willingness to apply quantitative statistical research methods in economics or finance.


Duties





  • Collaboration in the teaching of statistics and (financial) econometrics at different teaching levels.

  • Collaboration in the research activities of the group in the areas of statistics, mathematics, econometrics, and financial econometrics.

  • Development of a Ph. D. thesis in the above-mentioned areas at the University of St. Gallen.
