UNOPS hosts the Stop Tuberculosis Partnership Secretariat (STBP) as of 1 January 2015, in Geneva, Switzerland. The vision of the Stop TB Partnership is to realize the goal of elimination of Tuberculosis (TB) as a public health problem and, ultimately, to obtain a world free of TB by ensuring that every TB patient has access to effective diagnosis, treatment and cure; stopping transmission of TB; reducing the inequitable social and economic toll of TB; and developing and implementing new preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic tools and strategies. The Stop Partnership is uniquely positioned to support the development and further implementation by partners of the current and future Global Plan, acting as a coordinator and catalyst for the range of partners engaged in the fight against TB.
Founded in 2001, the Stop TB Partnership's mission is to serve every person who is vulnerable to TB and ensure that high-quality treatment is available to all who need it. Stop TB partners include international and technical organizations, government programmes, research and funding agencies, foundations, NGOs, civil society and community groups and the private sector.The incumbent will be based in the Stop TB Partnership’s offices in Geneva, Switzerland for the duration of the contract and paid on a monthly basis. The aim is for the incumbent to support the achievement of Advocacy strategies to promote the Stop TB Partnership’s objectives at the highest level. In this regard, the Advocacy & Communications Officer will work with partners, donors, and key influencers in order to achieve the objectives of the current and future Operational Strategy.
The purpose of all Stop TB Partnership advocacy work is to engender political and financial commitment to end TB as a public health problem. The incumbent will support a robust identity and role of Stop TB Partnership Secretariat in global, regional and national health and TB advocacy. Supporting the mobilizations at country level advocates to increase the visibility of TB as a political issue resulting in greater action and resources to fight TB.
The incumbent will be part of the Advocacy and Communications team and will work under the supervision and guidance of the Senior Advocacy Officer in the Stop TB Partnership.
The functional responsibilities of the Advocacy & Communications Officer include:
A University degree (Bachelor or Undergraduate degree) in communications, journalism, public relations, public policy, public health, global development, social sciences, humanities or a related field.
A master’s degree or equivalent qualification in the above mentioned subjects would be desirable.Develops and implements sustainable business strategies, thinks long term and externally in order to positively shape the organization.
