Siemens Healthcare and University Hospital Basel - bringing Big Data and AI to clinical practice

In Basel, computer scientists, IT-experts and medical specialist work together to dissolve the current silos in patient diagnostics through AI-driven data extraction and novel data integration and representation methods. Siemens Healthcare Healthineers and the USB work on a R&D infrastructure to enhance this endeavor aiming to achieve tangible patient impact through digital integration. Join our cross-sectional team now at Siemens Healthineers as SW Engineer (m/f) in Basel and be part of this exciting translational project.

Your new role – challenging and future-oriented

• You work in a strategic development project in close cooperation with the business lines of Siemens Healthineers and research groups of our technology center while based at our clinical collaboration site.


• You will be responsible to coordinate the close exchange between the above groups.


• You work on projects concerning research and development on the subject of information integration and data/workflow modeling. The focus is the integration of data from various hospital information systems and the modeling of clinical workflow.


• You will take over the responsibility for planning, conception and implementation of new data-based solutions and their interfaces at the collaboration site. 


• Your responsibility will be local development and validation of technical concepts for future product integration, documentation of site setup and continuous collection of feedback for prototypes.


• You will as well support the development and deployment of artificial intelligence methods.

Your qualifications – solid and appropriate

• You have a 3+ years of experience or a Masters, PhD in health informatics, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, information systems or a different equivalent discipline.


• You have well founded international project management experience.


• You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.


• You have good problem solving and communication skills, customer orientation, target orientation and analytical abilities, as well as a structured work ethic.


• You have a deep understanding of the theoretical and practical background in integration and interoperability within the clinical environment (e.g. standards like HL7, FHIR, DICOM, IHE).


• You have suitable professional experience in the field of SW engineering, data management, data analysis and visualization, preferably within the Healthcare industry.


• You have sound technological expertise with the solutions like MS SQL Server(or other relational data management system), Hadoop, Azure and skills in programming (e.g. C#, JavaScript, Java).

The position is available immediately and has a 3-year term.
