This position is located on our Sisseln site, Switzerland.
 
The Purpose
 
The purpose of this position is to deliver scientific advice to chemists and engineers in the field of thermal process safety based on experimental investigations, literature review and state of the art knowledge. Collaboration with innovation, engineering and production teams is key to achieve and maintain a very high standard in the field of process safety.
The job combines advanced scientific expertise in process chemistry and chemical engineering with thermal process safety. Good understanding of business processes and project management is mandatory.
You will be part of a group consisting of lab technicians and scientists with a fully equipped safety lab within the chemical development department. 
 
The Position
 

• Planning experimental investigation strategy based on project requirements and responsible for correct interpretation of the derived data


• Handing over the safety related information to the stakeholders and correct advice, responsible for the release of reports


• Further developing the scientific expertise in the area of thermal process safety and ensuring knowledge transfer to the stakeholders


• Deputy of the lab head, technical manager of a designated laboratory technician including safe execution of the experimental work


• Contribute to thermal process safety trainings for chemists and engineers


• Stand in for specialized thermal safety knowledge in cross-functional business teams

The Ideal
 

• Higher education, with Master Degree in Chemical Engineering or Organic Chemistry, PhD is of advantage.


• Further specialization in process safety, especially thermal safety. Experience with DSC, C80, Radex, reaction calorimetry and evaluation and interpretation of experiments including modelling. 


• Interest in further improvement of experimental technologies and methods, good knowledge about national and international safety regulations.


• Knowledge of chemical and biotechnological processing technology, equipment and methods in production, production experience of advantage.


• Outstanding ability to work in interdisciplinary teams and multitask on a high level 


• Strong communication skills and social antenna, high networking skills


• Good proficiency in English and German
