Description
Role purpose
To deliver market competitive foliar insecticides as well as seed applied insecticides and biostimulants, including a full assessment of their biological parameters and providing strong guidance for their technical positioning and biological performance.
Provide high level scientific expertise and foresight for new technologies such as precision application and digital technologies.
Monitor and provide expert technical assessment of new product technologies and competitor products.
Provide technical insights and support driving complex projects within an international environment to strengthen Syngenta's competitive position and maximize opportunities to create value for the customer
Drive new and existing active ingredients in line with the crop protection and seedcare business strategy.
Align with marketing, research and chemistry functions to assure innovation and delivery of innovative development projects.
Ensure the implementation of field trials on a global base and ensure sound base lines for decision making of development products.
Drive complex projects in an international, multifunctional and multicultural environment.
Accountabilities
Actively contribute to the global leadership for the development of robust products, technical strategies and new technology foresight enabling a strong Syngenta competitive position and maximise customer value creation.
Lead the technical development of active ingredients for Syngenta's insecticide and crop enhancement portfolio plus key strategic projects (product life cycle management).
Establish and operate the centre of Global Technical Expertise or assigned areas: providing biological profiles and key technical information ensuring uniformity and providing support to regions and countries.
Establish and communicate consistent technical product positioning closely cooperating and aligning with marketing.
Lead global technical development of active ingredients and their uses as well as formulation improvements. Liaise with research, the regions, and countries - assembling teams to deliver projects as needed.
Identify new market opportunities for active ingredients, formulations and use of technology.
Establish digital solutions that support trialling excellence and value product offers.
Qualifications
Critical knowledge
Good knowledge of agriculture (e.g. MSc or relevant agronomy experience)
Broad knowledge of the crop protection industry
In-depth knowledge of the technical properties of crop protection and seed treatment products and associated technologies
Excellent oral and written English knowledge
Critical skill and personal capabilities
Leadership combined with strong influencing skills, creative ideas, and ability to manage projects with an emphasis on results-orientation
Ability to work cross-functionally and with people from widely diverse cultures and personalities
