VARO Energy is an integrated fuel supply company, which refines, stores, blends and distributes oil products for the North West European market. The company owns a refinery in Cressier, Switzerland, a minority share in the Bayernoil refinery, Southern Germany, storage and blending facilities as well as distribution and marketing businesses in Benelux, France, Germany and Switzerland.  For our Technology team located in Cressier (Switzerland) we are looking for:


Job Definition


The Refinery Economist is in charge of optimizing the refinery margin and production plan. He/She is working in close relation with the Economic, Production and Technology departments as well as the Corporate Supply Chain.


Tasks and responsibilities


• Running the Refinery LP (Linear Programming Tool)


• Preparation and presentation of the optimum plans at the “Swiss Fuel Value Chain” weekly call


• Weekly preparation of the operating instructions


• Leading several meetings about economical drives with Production, Technology and other departments


• Preparation of the Production Plan Month+1


• Preparation and participation to the monthly meeting about performance and strategy of the Swiss Fuel Value Chain


• Keeping the margin indicators up-to-date


• Refinery focal point concerning the price set "up-to-date-process" in relation with the Supply Chain Manager


• Being the focal point for gasoline, middle-distillates and fuel oil pools optimization


• Identifying some potential improvements through sensitivities


• Keeping the Scheduling Tool up-to-date in relation to the Units & Products Scheduler


Qualifications



  • University Chemical Engineering or Mathematical degree 

  • Specialization in Refinery Economics is a strong asset

  • Results oriented and demonstrably commercial

  • Incisive and accurate judgement

  • Attention to details

  • Able to work across organizational and cultural boundaries; excellent communication skills

  • Able to prioritize tasks and meeting critical deadlines

  • Energetic, resilient and resourceful, with an ability to work accurately under pressure

  • English mandatory both spoken and written, French constitutes an asset
