The Space Research and Planetary Sciences Division of the University of Bern has been granted funding to lead the development of two payloads on board of the new ESA F-Class mission 'Comet Interceptor'. The University contributes a high-resolution camera system, the Comet Camera (CoCa), and a neutral gas mass spectrometer, the Mass Analyzer for Neutrals in a Coma (MANiaC), to the mission. The launch is planned in 2028. The division is also building instruments for a number of other missions. To help meet these challenges, we are now seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer (Hardware / Firmware).
Your focus will be on the development of specific modules and firmware of the so-called electronics unit (ELU) of the MANiaC instrument, based on flight-proven circuitry. Additionally you would support the electrical system engineer in his task of elaborating the detailed requirements.
The position contains the following tasks:• Development and assembly of the specific modules of the MANiaC electronics unit.
