Role purpose
The Global Head of Sales and Marketing Automation is responsible for designing and delivering a roadmap that equips Sales, Service and Marketing colleagues around the world with the latest digital tools they need to serve our customers. As a key member of the Commercial Platform IT Leadership team, and working with the IT Regional Delivery Teams, and the Syngenta Digital Engineering Teams, the Global Head of Sales and Marketing Automation’s primary activity is to understand and take action on a series of projects that will drive new capabilities and tools into the company.
Critical to this role is ensuring that the right mix of IT capabilities, both internal systems understanding and external best practice (art of the possible), alongside the commercial ways of working. Optimized cost, good user experience.
The Global Head of Sales and Marketing Automation will also support the transformation of some key IT methods to more current ways of working, which includes agile delivery of change and support, as well as new models that support new digital technologies and solutions.
Accountabilities
Establish and maintain Sales, Service and Marketing business capabilities strategies, roadmaps, and plans that support the CP and Seeds business needs
Build a Sales & Marketing Automation leadership team and management system which focuses on supporting and continuously improving our core commercial platforms (namely SFDC and Drupal), while also transforming Design / Solution Engineering to more agile methods focused on Business outcomes.
Partner with the Regional SFDC CoE teams to:
Serve as the domain expert in sales, marketing and service
Understand and coordinate new project requests
Deliver design and solution engineering for key projects (especially large innovations)
Manage the global governance for solution design to ensure all regions are aligned on the global platform
Partner with the Global and Regional CoE Leads, to:
Align and understand Sprint plans, ensuring developer deliverables are aligned with CP and Seeds strategies
Ensure capacity is assigned and sprint planning completed for projects led by this team
Ensure regional teams build and enhance the SFDC platform aligned with global Governance design principles
Partner with the Regional IT Delivery Teams, to:
Ensure understanding and accountability for large projects, aligned with regional CP and Seeds strategies
Continually update on the capabilities of the internal team to ensure internal teams are a first port-of-call to deliver innovative capabilities (vs. external contractors)
Provide domain expertise in the area of Sales & Marketing automation so that Regional IT Delivery teams can be most effective when partnering with the business
Partner with Commercial Excellence organization, in order to:
Enable scale and support for the integration of IT Sales & Marketing platforms and commercial business capabilities
Drive business adoption of core commercial platforms, through jointly identified capability and training gaps, jointly-run pain-point remediation projects, adoption and usage campaigns, etc.
Capture business outcomes from the usage of core commercial platforms
Implement the sourcing strategy for capabilities required to support Syngenta’s commercial platforms. This will include ensuring third party agreements, as well as internal capabilities are seamlessly integrated to support these platforms.
Deliver operational efficiency, proactive service management, and drive continuous improvement in the quality and effectiveness of IT commercial Platforms by ensuring that effective and efficient end to end support arrangements and critical lifecycle documentation are in place.
To provide business outcome and value aligned service reporting in order to drive a culture of client centricity and improve visibility of performance
Qualifications
Experience required
Extensive career experience leading project delivery organizations
Extensive career in commercial roles (e.g., sales, marketing and / or customer service), with a very good understanding of key commercial processes, including account management, campaign planning, service handling, opportunity management, customer relationship management, etc.
Proven ability to lead and catalyze organizational change
Demonstrated ability to drive and deliver high profile/value projects, changes, incident resolution; “Make it happen” attitude
Proven skills in leading the implementation of IT and Functional strategies
Experience with offshore and nearshore operations
Management of senior stakeholders.
Ability to work well in and across diverse global teams and proven ability to influence others to achieve positive outcomes
Demonstrate strong communication and relationship building skills with the ability to influence others to achieve objectives
Awareness of developments in the IT and IS marketplace and understands their relevance to Syngenta
Critical knowledge and education required
University graduate and/or advanced degree in Business, IT, Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, Sciences
MBA, or equivalent work experience
External as well as internal view on the IT landscape, leveraging new technologies and solutions in support of Syngenta’s business
Must have experience with different methodologies and operating models, delivering a good balance of innovation, people-focused, and P&L mindsets, using IT as a tool to drive profitable growth and cultural change.
Must have experience in commercial related processes end to end, in IT systems
Experience in the implementation of new IT processes and IT operations management
High SAP/SFDC commercial implementation experience is relevant for this job
