Director of Logistics - Basel

The Director of Logistics is a key management role reporting to the CEO and primarily responsible for ensuring that product flows through the company’s supply chain to the stores and on-line customers in the most cost efficient and expeditious manner possible.


This role requires the experienced combination of both customs and logistics knowledge to meet the wider Tally Weijl's business ambition of becoming the next generation European E-Tailer fashion brand for young self-confident women.


The Director is responsible for balancing the compliance, cost and speed of shipments moving in Europe (Germany, Switzerland and Italy) and out from various worldwide locations.


Deine Aufgaben



  • Improve lead-times constantly, seeking for new opportunities, especially in the context of the fast-fashion flow

  • Manage the product supply chain and labour costs from Supplier through Distribution Centre (DC) up to the point of receipt by stores, including inbound freight (domestic and import delivery to DC), DC operations, and outbound freight (DC to stores)

  • Negotiate and manage all transportation and distribution centre providers/contracts

  • Ensure products are received and sent on time and in good condition

  • Ensure strong collaboration with E-commerce to smoothly run direct to consumer warehousing and logistics to meet customer expectations

  • Coordinate with the CFO and the finance team on labor and freight cost targets and impact on the financial plan and cash flow

  • Establish and supervise the strategy of the Tally Weijl logistics activities, taking care mainly of factors such as inventory level (normally with Buying/planning), distribution of inputs and outputs, as well as functions and performance of transport to satisfy financial and operational objectives. Ensuring quality and delivery requirements at the same time

  • Responsible for building a sustainable and motivated Logistics organization with high expectations around process improvement


Dein Profil



  • 10+ years of successful supply chain management experience, including E-commerce operations, with a proven track record of reducing costs and streamlining processes

  • Demonstrated ability to manage cost and operations

  • Negotiation experience with both transportation and warehousing logistics providers

  • Experience selecting/updating inventory systems 

  • Strong core leadership skills and willing to manage with a hands-on style

  • Well-developed multi-tasking, organizational skills, and detail oriented approach are keys to success

  • Confident and data-based decision maker; comfortable with performing rigorous analysis required to support proposed operations strategies without support of dedicated analytics resources

  • Deadline driven and highly responsive with both internal and external business partners. Must be able to easily communicate with all levels of the company as well as the board of directors

  • Self-motivated individual that possesses a high level of integrity, honesty, and personal accountability

  • Ability to attract and retain talented individuals

  • English required, any other language is an asset
