Position Summary: The Sr. Strategic Program Manager is responsible for executing transformational, strategic projects in support of the Clinical Trials Division STRAP, in alignment with the Pharma Services Group. The Sr. Strategic PM leads the design of new business processes and ensures new technologies support the business process. Working with the Strategic Program Director, project sponsor, global businesses and functions, the Sr. Strategic PM leads key components of process development to transform key business that drives process standardization and simplification across the division and/or delivers new service lines augmenting our organic growth and profitability.

Responsibilities:



  • Work closely with the Strategic Program Director and Business leaders to define project scope and deliverables.

  • In alignment with the STRAP roadmap, work with the global business to define workstream strategy for process enhancements.

  • Define team structure and management operating system, including selection of a steering committee.

  • Develop and gain approval from steering committee for schedule, budget and resource plan, and changes to the plan as needed.

  • Lead a team that may be global and cross-functional to deliver the project scope on time and in budget.

  • Monitor and control expenses within allotted budgets within workstreams.

  • Develop and maintain program documentations.

  • Utilize rigorous risk identification and mitigation process on an ongoing basis and convey effectively to internal management.

  • Act as a thought partner to the business leaders to refine the strategy and/or deployment approach, as needed.

  • Define and track metrics; maintain unified Dashboards and report on global project/ program progress, often to different levels of stakeholder.

  • Ensure that program deliverables meet quality, regulatory and legal standards.

  • Work with management, finance and IT teams to support business program execution.

  • Initiate the involvement of appropriate departments, maintaining continuous communication with those departments, and ensure the work delivered to stakeholders is of a consistently high standard.

  • Manage third party contractors, as needed.

  • Mine and coordinate resource sharing between constituent projects to overall benefit of program.

  • Implement program management standards and methodologies to achieve program goals and ensure consistency across workstreams.

  • Develop and implement a change management strategy and communication plan, with global business leader / project sponsor.

  • Develop and share best practices to improve performance of the strategy deployment office.

  • Follow and enforce company policies and regulations.

  • Demonstrate and promote the company vision.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires excellent organizational, planning, verbal, written and numerical skills with the ability to analyze and define solutions and manage multiple tasks to meet strict deadlines.

  • Requires strong and effective communicator with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and stakeholders.

  • Requires ability to develop strong stakeholder management skills; proactively anticipates, understands, and responds to the needs of stakeholders to meet or exceed their expectations.

  • Proven experience of working collaboratively in global multi function teams and ability to transition between roles effectively.

  • Skilled across the full spectrum of project management techniques to build an integrated cross­ functional plan with good working knowledge of project management tools and techniques.

  • Ability to assess global situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization and the customer.

  • Ability to speak, listen and write in a clear, concise, thorough and timely manner across sites and functions using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques.

  • Ability to overcomes obstacles and achieve key outcomes- follows through to get things done and delivers what is promised across all sites and functions.

  • 10-25% international and domestic travel.


Education/ Experience:

  • Utilizes business acumen and relevant experience to assist in the definition and documentation of business/functional requirements (e.g. financial knowledge is required if the transformation project is a financial initiative).

  • Requires accredited college, university or recognized professional degree, preferably in a health related field. Prefer advanced degree in a health related field.

  • Requires 7+ years of successful experience in project management.

  • Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills to include excellent relationship building.

  • Requires proficiency in personal computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook).

  • Requires proven experience with stakeholders in a dynamic environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prefer proficiency in appropriate project planning tools e.g. Microsoft Project and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, Planner, Sharepoint and other office 365 applications.

  • Mastery of basic Project Management concepts from a recognized institution in project management.
