Lead Systems Engineer, Laboratory Automation, Roche Diagnostics

In our Workflow & IT organization we provide innovative automation solutions supporting Diagnostic Laboratories to optimize their workflow/intra-logistic processes, which results in an improvement in testing efficiency, service to clinicians and provided patient care. With the most complete portfolio in the market, we offer the best customized solution for every lab (low-, mid- and high-volume laboratories).


To ensure interoperability between our IT and our Workflow Products we are looking for a Lead Systems Engineer / Systems Architect.


In this role your main responsibilitieswill consist in (but will not be limited to):



  • Facilitate the cross product concept definition and the break-down to the product structure


  • Be accountable to identify the cross product-specific requirements to ensure their interoperability


  • Coordinate the systems engineering activities between the products and safeguard technical consistency and completeness during the execution of the projects


  • Lead the interface management between the WF and the IT products as well as to connected devices


  • Responsible for the modularization of Architecture of the solution


  • Collaborate in the specification, risk analysis, architecture design and integration of the different products


  • Ensure maintainability and interoperability of the whole solution and its products during its entire lifetime


  • Ensure domain knowledge transfer to the organizational unit



In order to fulfill the requirements of the role, you should bring the following experience/skill-set:



  • University degree in Life Sciences or Engineering


  • Experience in technical project management


  • Several years of experience in the Diagnostics industry preferably in the field of Lab Automation including Middleware & LIS


  • Experience in defining the architecture of complex multidisciplinary systems preferably in the field of laboratory workflow systems


  • Ability to lead by influence and to drive decisions


  • Excellent communication and presentation skills


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
