Deputy Category Lead for Premises & Logistics

The Category Manager deputy role for Premises & Logistics is responsible for assisting with the implementation of category plans across a cluster of critical spend sub-categories that impact UBS’ Business Units and Functions (for all facilities management (Integrated FM), document & information management, physical security, utilities & energy management, mission critical & property maintenance and capital construction projects).



The role will be dedicated to support the Category Lead for Premises & Logistics who is based in London, to partner with the creation of a pipeline of sourcing projects which align to those category strategies and stakeholder objectives.



Key roles and responsibilities are:



- Real Estate & Corporate Services Sector Market Expert: Research the industry sector and seek out opportunities for knowledge transfer in the sourcing community. Stay current with industry by attending key conferences, trade shows, supplier briefings, and conducting research from trusted and relevant sources.

- Analyze Spend Data: Support the spend analysis within the Premises & Logistics category (e.g. spend structure by supplier, business unit, function, geography and to identify commercial dynamics, key drivers for spend and demand and understand the underlying cost drivers and cost levers).

- Analyze Procurement Practices and Supplier Risk: Support the analysis of the current commodity practices (e.g. supplier concept and buying channels). Assess potential future trends impacting the current practice. Determine a thorough overview of the current category landscape including the Procure to Pay channels, approved suppliers and supplier management insights. Evaluate the commodity risk profile (e.g. price volatility, regulatory etc.) including commodity practices, expected future changes, supplier performance reports and overall risk assessment.

- Benchmarks: Assist with market research on current best practices, and best in class rates, determining external future category trends. The category manager uses the benchmark information to inform the category strategy and includes in a roll up into the Strategic Plan for the category.

- Develop Sourcing Plan & Pipeline of Initiatives: The role supports the creation of both short and long term plans. The plan contains all information to inform the opportunity pipeline for deal execution. You are expected to work collaboratively with a cross functional team of stakeholders including your line manager, Supplier Managers and other teams in the development of sourcing solutions.

- Entrepreneurial Spirit: Identifying Progressive Opportunities & Savings Generation: Responsible for supporting and assisting with the identification of opportunities which will contribute to an agreed saving target on the addressable spend per year. Opportunities are specified in the category plan and agreed with relevant stakeholders.

- Supply Market Analysis: To assist with the understanding of supply market in terms of size, growth, key players as well as trends, and potential buying power leverage opportunities. Develops, based on this information and data gathered, the market analysis approach based on validated and innovative analysis frameworks. Goal is to assess the supply market by analyzing internal competition, supplier bargaining power, buyer bargaining power, pressure from substitutes, market share distribution, supplier rankings, and entry barriers.

- Stakeholder Management and Leadership: In coordination with the Category Manager for Premises & Logistics, build a trusted partner relationship status with all stakeholders based on the credibility, dependability and professionalism of value contribution achieved in collaboration with all UBS Stakeholders. Coordinate the quarterly category council with regional GCS colleagues to ensure effective management and valuable outcomes are achieved.

- Decision-making and problem solving: The position requires the ability to think creatively, holistically, and multi-dimensionally about business challenges involving third-party supply chains to develop solutions that reduce cost, drive revenue, and manage risk. The incumbent will be expected to take the initiative required to uncover data, identify and nurture key relationships, develop creative solutions, and overcome obstacles in selling the “art of the possible” to senior stakeholders.

- Risk and control objective: Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, UBS Risk Management Framework and internal Policies and Policy Standards.
