Requirements Engineer
Research & Development delivers hearing solutions and services for hearing impaired people, hearing care professionals, and further related people, in the form of hearing devices, accessories, web services, mobile applications, and PC software. Our agile engineering process relies on reusable engineering assets, made of software, electronics, and mechanical parts.

In a world of uncertainty and complexity, the requirements engineer has a cooperative, iterative and incremental mediation role between the stakeholders of the engineering process, which include engineers, product managers, researcher, and hearing health care professionals, and which are primarily located Sonova’s Headquarter but also on other Sonova international facilities.

Your tasks


  • Facilitate understanding and agreement among the stakeholders of a system to be built on its externally observable characteristics, but also on its context, its usage and the goals of its users

  • Document (or facilitate the documentation of) the above material with the details level which is needed by the engineering stakeholders (Verification Engineer, Developer, Product Manager, UX engineer, etc.), and in conformity with our Medical Device regulatory obligations

  • Maintain this documentation up to date (change control)

  • Contribute to the planning of the engineering activities (projects, work packages, epics, etc.)

  • Define, improve and document our requirements engineering practices and processes

  • Share (and learn) requirements engineering related knowledge in our communities of practice

Your profile


  • BSc. or MSc. degree in engineering

  • Profound engineering experience, preferably from a consumer product or medical device industry setting rather than an IT-only environment, preferably as Requirements Engineer

  • Ability to effectively integrate information from varied disciplines including multiple engineering disciplines marketing and regulatory affairs

  • Ability to work effectively across geographical, cultural and language borders

  • Experience in Total Quality Management environment

  • Excellent communication skills in English and preferably also in German
