As Head, Corporate Reporting & ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) Office, you will provide leadership and management of all Corporate Reporting and ESG Office activities and staff to support the company in tracking and disclosing its work against all strategic priorities.
This will include developing and executing strategy, targets and goals for the company’s global Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and Corporate Reporting (CR) efforts and also leading the execution of the company’s CR efforts including managing the development of the annual CR Report, designing auditable processes and systems related to cross-function non-financial data collection.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Evolving and leading team responsible for corporate reporting publications and non-financial reporting data collection and disclosure
• Responsibility for publication of key company reports: Annual Report/Annual Report on Form 20-F, Annual Review, Novartis in Society. Also responsible for key company communications tools: company presentation, brochure, language to describe Novartis
• Developing and driving innovative approaches in corporate reporting, e.g. drive Novartis path to integrated reporting, and monitor regulatory and corporate trends in reporting
• Serve as key internal interface with other functions (e.g. Investor Relations, Corporate Strategy, Global Health & Corporate Responsibility, Ethics, Compliance and Risk) and divisions
• Overseeing non-financial reporting, driving enhanced performance of Novartis in key indices, Dow Jones Sustainability Index, MSCI, Sustainalytics, Access to Medicine Index, and more. Oversee data collection (50+ internal experts). Present key findings and opportunities for improvement to CEO, Chairman, Board of Directors Committee, ECN and other members of senior management.
• Overseeing transparency and disclosure of non-financial information
• Identifying risks and opportunities that may impact the company from an ESG and corporate responsibility perspective and steer the decision making process to respond to them.
• Providing education and training on specific CR/ESG risks, opportunities and best practices to internal and client stakeholders.
• Researching and recommending for consideration potential partnerships, memberships and organizational commitments related to ESG.
• Collaboration with Communications to promote Global Heath and sustainability initiatives through the development of strategic ESG and Global Heath communications plans tailored to key stakeholders (employees, investors, patients, press and social media, etc.).
Minimum requirements
What you’ll bring to the role:
o University degree in Business, Finance Accounting, Marketing or Communications; MBA helpful
o Fluency in English
o Significant experience in financial or non-financial reporting and/or Corporate Responsibility with direct experience developing Corporate Reporting and ESG reporting programs consistent with ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) global reporting standards.
o Knowledge and/or experience of Pharmaceutical/Healthcare/Biotech sector is a strong asset, or relevant experience/knowledge in other highly regulated industries/sectors.
o Deep technical expertise and a demonstrated understanding of best-practice Corporate Reporting programs. Extensive experience/training in global standards related to socially responsible/ESG investing and reporting
o Understanding of the CR/ESG current industry trends and practices from a Thought Leadership, Influencer and Stakeholder Engagement perspective
o Experience confidently and comfortably interfacing and facilitating dialog with C-suite, senior level executives and department leaders
o Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trustful positive relationships and lead through influence with internal and external partners, build consensus and prioritize action and results
o Inspiring leader with proven people management and leadership skills
o Strong aptitude for data gathering and analytics.
o Proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
