The Senior Manager Media Relations will lead the media relations team to support the Group strategy, and the achievement of the company’s business objectives to ensure a global, positive, coherent, and credible image both in terms of content and form to promote role as the most advanced group in its sector. The Senior Manager Media Relations will be the corporate spokesperson towards media relations in crisis scenarios, financial communications, media monitoring, media training, media policies etc
In doing so, this role will be responsible for developing and implementing a media strategy in the framework of the overall communications strategy, that is used proactively and reactively as well as establishing appropriate tactics and programs that can convey corporate messages effectively to targeted audiences.
• Develop and implement a media relations strategy for the Group and ensure alignment across the global communications network.
• Develop, support and challenge and execute media releases, presentations and Q&As for financial and non-financial communications. Ensure particular focus is applied to media communications required for financial reporting.
• Promote the positive image of the group and its top executives across a range of media platforms with appropriately developed messaging strategy, to international and national stakeholders
• Develop communications material for CEO trips, particularly media engagement, as well as organized trips for journalists. Participation as applicable.
• Build appropriate messaging and activities towards the media to respond to the new challenges that will be presented to the group, particularly related to its new footprint and key global trends.
• Actively manage communications in crisis scenarios, in conjunction with Region and Country Facilitation particularly where the issue is at a regional or country level (crisis communications).
• Ensure the media relations team operates in a cost efficient manner, maximizing value creation from all the actions undertaken through the development of appropriate KPIs and benchmarking.
• Provide guidance, coaching and leadership to the group’s top executives and spokespeople as necessary. Develop and support media training.
• Degree / MBA equivalent (Bachelor's Degree in Business, English, Communications, or Journalism a plus).
• Minimum of 10 years' experience in Communications or related roles, including at least 4 years in a senior role.
• Experience of managing media relations in an organisation of comparable size to the new group, would be a major plus.
• Demonstrable experience of managing media relations in a very international environment.
• Experience in industry and in working in matrix organizations
• Outstanding personal communicator with the professional stature and presence to represent the group.
• Strong communications competencies (writing, presenting, project management, etc)
• Ability to direct and supervise teams, and the proven ability to counsel senior management.
• Sound understanding of business financials, experience in the development and production of financial publications
• Proven ability to effectively manage strategic communications campaigns including proactive, high-profile media relations and the ability to make sound judgments and counsel management.
