MSF INTERNATIONAL
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural disasters. MSF offers assistance to people based only on need and irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation.

MSF International is the legal entity that binds MSF’s 21 sections, 24 associations and other offices together. Based in Geneva, MSF International provides coordination, information and support to the MSF Movement, as well as implements international projects and initiatives as requested.

POSITION BACKGROUND

The diagnostic imaging working group (DIWG) serves to support all MSF operational centres. In 2019, the MSF MedOp platform (composed of the medical and operational directors of the Operational Centres) has endorsed a coordinated, intersectional, multi-country initiative to implement field-based Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) programs across MSF to ensure that clinicians, both national and expat, have the knowledge, guidance and access to proper and selective use of this diagnostic tool as part of the comprehensive management of patients, in remote and low-resource settings.  The DIWG is part of the intersectional POCUS project team.
