Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural disasters. MSF offers assistance to people based only on need and irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation.
MSF International is the legal entity that binds MSF’s 21 sections, 24 associations and other offices together. Based in Geneva, MSF International provides coordination, information and support to the MSF Movement, as well as implements international projects and initiatives as requested.
POSITION BACKGROUND
The diagnostic imaging working group (DIWG) serves to support all MSF operational centres. For X ray systems, MSF installs fixed, mobile or C- arm (for operating theatres) to support various programs in the field. The DIWG also conducts quality control of X ray images, provides advise on radiation safety and works together with the field to make sure X ray systems are appropriately used for patient care.
In 2019, the MSF MedOp platform (composed of the medical and operational directors of the Operational Centres) has endorsed a coordinated, intersectional, multi-country initiative to implement field-based Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) programs across MSF to ensure that clinicians, both national and expat, have the knowledge, guidance and access to proper and selective use of this diagnostic tool as part of the comprehensive management of patients, in remote and low-resource settings. The DIWG is part of the intersectional POCUS project team.

OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Support implementation of MEDOP POCUS strategy, specifically:
2. Support MSF projects in the rational choice and use of diagnostic imaging tools (X-ray and/or POCUS) in the field, including
3. Contribute to the development of MSF guidelines including the revision of X-ray manual, POCUS manual, etc
4. Participate in and contribute to X-ray research project discussions in OCs including the use of novel tools such as computer assisted diagnosis (CAD) tools X-ray.
5. Contribute as necessary to biomedical working group discussions on matters related to X-ray and POCUS equipment
6. For both X-ray and POCUS, to promote and facilitate the use of telemedicine in MSF field sites
