Detailed analysis and characterization of components is a key supporting activity for our R&D projects, business units and production plants. These components comprise both metallographic samples from our tools and inserts (mostly steel based), as well as lithium-ion cells. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for the technical tasks around the metallography activities and root cause analysis in failure investigations.

As Research Engineer in our metallography laboratory you are part of the materials research group. You will work closely with our material experts, project managers and product developers, and you will support them with your expertise on material science, metallography, and root cause analysis in failure investigations of steel components (tool parts, inserts, consumables). Furthermore, you will expand your analytical skills in performing lithium-ion cells analysis for our battery team. You will be responsible for material and component investigations (e.g. sample preparation, metallography tests, and results documentation). You will be the person who will do precise work and support in engineering questions in research and technical projects. Effective technical communication as well as the comprehensible documentation of your work is a key factor in your job. We are looking for a self-responsible person who can help manage of our state-of-the-art metallography and cell analysis lab in the acquisition, calibration and maintenance of the equipment. You should look for continuously improvements of our laboratory methodologies and bring new testing plans for potential causes of failures in our wide range of products and applications.
