We are looking for a highly talented and motivated Development Chemist Adhesives to join our Technology and Innovation team within the Advanced Materials division. The position is a full-time contract at our Advanced Materials European Head Quarter in Basel, Switzerland.

As Development Chemist Adhesives, you will join a collaborative department working on the development of innovative products and solutions in the field of adhesives. You will work in a project team-based research environment. You will lead the development and the implementation of new adhesives applications, creating competitive advantages through your technical expertise and innovation.

As Development Chemist Adhesivesyou will:

• Use scientific and technical understanding to transform customer requirement into innovative products, perform laboratory work and prepare tasks for laboratory technician


• Ensure OTIF (on time in full) delivery of agreed projects and tasks


• Identify new approaches and tools to improve development speed and laboratory productivity -> Assist sales and business development functions in identifying prospects, conduct technical discovery, and provide assessment on probability of success. Leverage new technologies and new products to new customers, industry segments and markets.


• Ensure competition survey (patent, products, products testing)


• Proactively look for opportunities to gain Intellectual Property and create commercial advantage


• Maximize the chances of success for projects by collaborating with other function: attend customer trials with Technical Support teams, accompany scale-up of development products from laboratory to full scale manufacturing and support marketing teams


• Ensure full compliance with safety, health and environmental guidelines according to site and company standards

Requirements:

• At least 3 years professional experience in adhesives industry preferably with a proven track record in product development


• MS or PhD in Polymer Science or Materials Science


• Solid background in polymeric material science and epoxy chemistry


• Strong knowledge in radical chemistry and polymerization mechanism


• Good knowledge in adhesive technology and application processes


• Natural leader with an entrepreneurial mindset, self-driven and highly motivated


• Excellent oral presentation and written communication skills


• Accountable, reliable and efficient team player with excellent interpersonal, communication and project management skills associated with strong work ethics


• Fluent oral and written English skills, any other language is an asset
