The Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering (D-MAVT) seeks a Senior Scientist in Applied Mechanics. The position has 50% responsibility in teaching and 50% on research. The host institutes are the Institute for Mechanical Systems and the Institute of Virtual Manufacturing.


Job description


Responsibilities of the position include co-teaching and organization of the exercises in Dimensioning and Mechanics, co-teaching of the other IMES or IVP lectures, and supervision of BSc-, MSc and PhD-Students. The level of independence in teaching will depend on the qualification of the candidate. He/she will develop his/her own research program in the field of “Applied Mechanics” ideally focusing on advances in experimental mechanics, ideally related to characterizing the response of materials under extreme loading conditions.


Your profile


You have a doctoral degree in mechanical engineering or in related fields with a profound understanding of modern experimental techniques and broad knowledge of solid mechanics. The three most important scientific publications should also be included in the application.


The Senior Scientist position is possible as a tenure-track or permanent position, depending on your experience and qualification, it even opens up the possibility towards a titular professorship. You will be invited to contribute to the research fields of both institutes, IMES and IVP. For the teaching of BSc courses, proficiency in German is an advantage. The starting date is flexible.
