Sulzer’s business unit Polymer- and Crystallization Technology has been active for many years in selling plants and components for the processing of polymer foams and particle foams, as well as for polymerization processes, in particular for the polymerization of the biopolymer polylactic acid (PLA). Sulzer develops the plant technology as well as formulations and applications and assists our customers on a global basis when implementing new products. To reinforce and grow the foam business further Sulzer has invested in a state-of-the-art and very versatile pilot plant for foam extrusion. Technical Specialist Foam Extrusion (m/f)

Your tasks

• Management and execution of R&D projects regarding foam extrusion and particle foams, including presentation of results at trade shows and conferences


• Organization and execution of test campaigns for customer projects and development purposes


• Technical support of our sales team, customer consultation and commissioning on site on an international basis

In this role, you are responsible for the design of components, the process and application development as well as for the plant design and our product portfolio with regards to foam extrusion and particle foams.

Your profile

This position requires an engineer’s degree, preferably master or PhD in polymers and/or processing of polymers, ideally with some years of experience in polymer foaming. You are interested in working in an R&D environment and in designing, assembling and running new processes in technical plants. You are well organized, have the ability to assert yourself, work independently and are able to lead a team. Fluency in English is required to communicate with our international customers. Fluency in German is an advantage.
