The Professorship of Genome Biology develops and uses next-generation genome editing and regulation technologies for fundamental biological discovery and to create potential therapies for human genetic diseases. To support Professor Jacob Corn and the associated laboratory’s operational functions, we are seeking an Administrative Assistant as of November 1st, 2019 or upon agreement.


The Professor of Genome Biology is part of the D-BIOL Institute of Molecular Health Sciences at the ETH Zurich (Honggerberg campus). The laboratory works in a fast-moving field with global exposure, so applicants should be excited for a dynamic environment.


Job description


The successful candidate will be responsible for the financial and administrative processes of the Professorship. With minimal supervision, s/he will perform various financial and administrative functions. Examples include internal processing of supplier invoices; preparing quarterly/yearly lab budgets across multiple funding sources; overseeing finances and deadlines for third-party funded research projects and financial reporting; scheduling events and appointments; arranging external engagements such as press interviews, trips abroad, and scientific advisory board visits; assisting with travel reimbursements; and serving as point-of-contact for employees, students and visitors. In addition, s/he will help to manage different personnel administration tasks. The successful candidate will be productive and comfortable in an international research environment, where unexpected events and demands require clear thinking and reshuffling of priorities.


 


Your profile


We are looking for a motivated person with experience as an Assistant/Secretary position who is energetic, well organized, proactive, and comfortable with today’s electronic office and communication tools. A record of business fluency in German and English is required. A flair for figures and finances is a must. Excellent team player skills and the ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds and with a variety of stakeholders will be a strong selection criterion. Past experience with the ETH system (either administrative or research) is a plus, but not a requirement.
