The development department of optical sensors is searching for a strongly motivated and outstanding mechanical engineer (m/w). We develop novel optical current sensors for digital solutions in high voltage applications and other high power systems within the ABB portfolio. You will be part of our international team in the development of new generation optical sensors, in the maintenance of our current product portfolio and in the support of customer specific solutions. Your responsibilities



  • Responsibility for design, construction and documentation of mechanical parts for various product families.

  • Development and continuous improvement of production processes and constructing and documenting of pertaining tools and equipment.

  • Manage cooperation partners and running activities in the area of development of mechanical systems for the production and the product itself.

  • Prepare documentation of manufacturing procedures, establish training guidelines and organize and give training to the manufacturing personnel.

  • Drive activities on improving production efficiency and FPY of the production processes for FOCS systems.


Your background



  • Interdisciplinary interested mechanical engineer with min. 3 years of professional experience with CAD construction and design, manufacturing, process optimization

  • Experience with communication and managing of cooperation tasks with external subcontractors.

  • Experienced with ERP/SAP

  • Profound knowledge of manufacturing processes and/or product development.

  • Good overview of optical component or telecommunication industry desired.

  • Good communication skills in German and English
