About the Role


In this role, you are accountable for delivering product management and underwriting leadership for the Region for Property & Specialty Lines. As the overall responsible Property & Specialty Portfolio leader for the Region, which includes P&L responsibility for General Property, Onshore Energy, Mining, Utilities and Engineering & Construction, you will work in close collaboration with the global heads of these lines of business, as well as various regional CorSo partners including the EMEA Country Managers.


 


You will lead a regional team of highly motivated Property & Specialty professionals and promote Corporate Solutions' brand in the marketplace, be it at industry conferences, with Brokers and Clients, or with the media', if appropriate.


 


Leadership & Management



  • Lead a team of Regional Property and Specialty specialists and assumes 'dotted line' responsibility for the Country Underwriting Leaders

  • Contribute to recruiting and onboarding of new underwriters and facilitate regional UW training

  • Actively develop UW talent base through recruitment, training, mentoring and skill development


 


Business Development & Growth Strategy



  • Craft region-specific Line of Business strategy, monitor strategy execution and perform periodical reviews

  • Lead, support and execute on strategic initiatives in the region, e.g. International Program Business, Lean Underwriting, etc.

  • Perform annual business planning in cooperation with the country teams


 


Portfolio Steering



  • Assume overall accountability for the Regional Property & Specialty portfolio profitability (EVM, US GAAP)

  • Continuously improve the quality of portfolio monitoring & steering, analysis, guidance, tactical execution, etc., including the development / updating of Level II Factbooks

  • Monitor costing accuracy and propose changes where necessary to the Products Global Line of Business Heads

  • Establish, maintain and improve regional/local underwriting standards


 


Product Development & Innovation



  • Develop new products, respectively adjusts existing products to the needs of the Region and enable roll-out

  • Enable cross-regional UW knowledge transfer, including training and skill set development for the UWs


 


External representation



  • Represent subject Line of Business towards external partners, i.e. clients, brokers, industry associations/conferences/panels, regulators, etc.

  • Lead and/or participate in key discussions with corresponding production sources in the market


 


Referral Underwriting and other reviews



  • Perform referral underwriting, support Products Global Line of Business Heads in referral underwriting that require higher underwriting authority

  • Perform underwriting checks of regional UW teams

  • Propose to Products Global Line of Business Heads appropriate levels of underwriting authorities for underwriters in the Region


 


Costing & Pricing Infrastructure



  • Lead or contribute to the development (incl. improvement) of regional / local costing models for existing and new products

  • Participate on the design and implementation of UW relevant IT infrastructure


 


Market Research & Analytics



  • Develop and distribute periodic market insight reports

  • Provide Region access to market data and analytics; sources new data and assures regional market data is globally managed, maintained and improved

You will report to the Regional CEO EMEA and are a member of the EMEA Executive Team and Management Team. You will have dotted line reporting to the Products Global Line of Business Head Property & Specialty.

About You


Educational background



  • University degree or equivalent


 


Your experience



  • Min. 15 years of experience in Property or Specialty underwriting

  • Strong experience in leading Property and Specialty portfolio in the insurance industry

  • Recognized as a Property and/or Specialty leader in the market


 


Leadership skills



  • Strong leadership and management skills, incl. project management

  • Robust thought leadership and strategic thinking skills

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
