Nine years into the conflict in Syria, the fluctuations in humanitarian funding across the region and the dire needs of refugees and hosting communities remain high. The latest Jordan Response Plan (JRP) 2018-2020 indicates that in fact, vulnerabilities of refugees are increasing as their savings and assets are long depleted.
As of early July 2019, more than 662’000 Syrian refugees resided in Jordan, continuing to face immense challenges. 78% of registered Syrian refugees in Jordan live below the poverty line of 68 JOD per month and struggle to cover their basic needs.
In response to the crisis, Caritas Switzerland (CACH) has been engaged in Jordan, Lebanon and Syria, since 2012 in the following sectors: 1) Education, 2) Relief, and 3) Livelihood. In Jordan, CACH focuses on livelihood programming and implements projects together with its national partner Caritas Jordan (CaJo).
