What's the role?


This position is in the Business Unit Measuring Systems at Hilti HQ in Liechtenstein. Your three main areas of activity are on: 1) Focal point between products programmes and the Supply team, 2) Responsible for certain commodity management and suppliers and 3) lead / coordinate the creation and deployment of methods, tools and strategies. You act as a “sparring partner” to the BU’s Head of Supply.

What does the role involve?


The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for the Sourcing, Purchasing & Logistics deliverables being met according to the product line (e.g. Distance Metres, Rotating Lasers…) demands. Also, that requirements are effectively communicated and carried out by the Supply (Sourcing & Logistics) organisation.
You take the responsibility for the management of selected commodities of components and services (e.g. electronics, software) and/or directly sellable products (e.g. Accessories). The activities include: strategies, supplier relationship management, negotiations, Supply improvement projects together with different internal (e.g. Engineering and Manufacturing colleagues) and external stakeholders.
By creating and implementing all activities on methods, tools and strategies you improve how Supply is managed in the BU. Examples of these are: team management tools (e.g. visual management), SAP Ariba implementation, process to organise and deploy cross-functional commodity strategies
The Strategic Sourcing Manager acts as a real “Sparring partner” to the BU Head of Supply. The scope of activities is broad and can touch different areas, such as the overall BU’s supply footprint.

What you need is:



  • Demonstrated experience to think strategically

  • Sourcing experience in a manufacturing company (>2 years).

  • Good Sourcing project management experience (>2 years)

  • Experience in leading continuous improvement projects (>1 year)

  • Experience in deploying Sourcing methods, processes and tools (>2 years)
