The Department of Clinical Research has the primary task of promoting and professionalizing clinical research in cooperation with departments and institutes of the University Hospital and University of Bern. The Director of the DCR will be responsible for the clinical trial unit (CTU) and clinical investigation unit, will coordinate training programs in clinical research, and pursue own research activities. Applicants should have a strong, independent academic track record and teaching experience in patient and population-based research. An additional focus on large and multi-center clinical trials as well as on big data management and precision medicine is desirable. Candidates are expected to have a record of excellence and accomplishment in original research and extramural competitive research funding. A medical degree, a PhD, MSc, or equivalent training in clinical research methodology and a record of directing research teams are mandatory. We are looking for a collaborative personality ("team player") who enjoys working with as well as tactfully managing clinical and basic researchers. The development of the department requires an interest in and knowledge of business and strategic issues.
