Senior Manager Sustainable Markets – Commodity Expert (80%)


Your tasks
You will develop and implement strategies to shift major commodity markets towards more sustainable pro-
duction and trade practices, establish close relations with and support commodity experts in WWF’s global
network, support WWF Switzerland’s sector strategies for retail and food processing, establish close relations
with the Swiss commodity sector, follow, comment and support related roundtables and platforms, support and
advise relevant companies in their quest to improve their own commodity procurement, closely follow and in-
fluence Swiss politics on commodities and commodity trade, develop and communicate policies and positions
on commodity-related issues internally as well as externally, establish good relationships with relevant NGOs
and government agencies and support common strategies.
Your profile
You are passionate about conserving nature and involving businesses to implement pragmatic solutions to
save the planet? You can positively relate to WWF’s vision and objectives. You have a good understanding of
global commodity markets and related ecological and social issues. You’re familiar with the mechanisms of
global standards and certification schemes (e.g. RSPO, RTRS). You have a master’s degree in nature sci-
ence, economics or engineering as well as advanced training in commodity-related sustainability challenges.
You have a minimum of five years’ work experience, some of them preferably in an international company
related to commodity production, procurement or trade.
You’re communicating well and have proven skills in bringing stakeholders together to solve common chal-
lenges. You’ve built a professional network in the commodity sector, the NGO or certification community and
are experienced in advocacy. You’re an experienced strategist with a strong, convincing personality. You’re
business fluent (C1) in English and German and have good knowledge (B1) of French. Any additional lan-
guage would be an asset.
