Gramazio Kohler Research, the Chair of Architecture and Digital Fabrication at the Institute of Technology in Architecture, operates at the forefront of architectural production enabled through digital manufacturing techniques. Our Robotic Fabrication Laboratory (RFL), a unique digital construction environment, allows for world class research in the field of robotic fabrication in architecture and construction.Software Engineer
We are looking for a highly skilled software engineer to work on the development of the open-source python framework for research in architecture and robotic fabrication (COMPAS framework and the COMPAS FAB package). You will focus on the development and integration of software and hardware systems and work in a multi-disciplinary team of software engineers, architects, computer scientists and roboticists. This project is conducted in collaboration with a major player in the field of technology and aims to bridge cutting-edge automation technology and multi-robot planning with computational design in architecture.
You have a degree in Computer Science or a related field and several years of experience as a software engineer. You have solid experience in multiple programming languages, in particular Python and C/C++. Experience in working with distributed systems with a focus on robotics (ROS) and knowledge in path planning and robot control is essential. Familiarity with containerization and continuous integration pipelines is an asset. You are fluent in English and enjoy working in an international, diverse and interdisciplinary team.
