Through leading innovations, we help farmers around the world to meet the challenge of feeding a growing population and taking care of our planet. We are currently seeking an Application Technology Manager for our Global Application Technology Group located in Basel .

 

Role Purpose:

 As a member of the Application Technology (AT) Team, this resource will:

• provide services, know-how, expert judgement and innovative methods for the efficient and safe application of our products.


• maintain awareness regarding new application techniques, delivery systems and market opportunities.


• support Product Development, Marketing & Sales, Product Stewardship, Regulatory, the regions and countries during product development, launch, sales and product life-cycle management in order to differentiate our products and services from competition, to minimize environmental impact and to increase market shares.

 
Accountabilities:
 

• Elaborate optimum application parameters (application methods, equipment, spray volumes, nozzles, pressure, etc.) allowing the application of our products in an efficient, environmental-friendly and safe way according to regulations and guidelines.


• Manage professionally and successfully allocated AT projects: objectives and deliverables, planning, conduct of field part, data recording and reporting including conclusions and recommendations; interaction with sponsor and all involved stakeholders.


• Investigate relations and correlations between crop parameters, spray deposits, biological performance and residue levels in order to optimize our use recommendations and to minimize the impacts on the environment, the applicator and the consumer.


•On request, provide training courses for internal and external staff as well as key customers. Elaboration of education and training modules.


• Ensure compliance with the Syngenta HSE standards throughout all activities.


• Provide technology foresight, test new delivery systems and application methods. Provide expert knowledge to HQ, the regions and countries. Contacts with equipment and nozzles manufacturers, academia and extension services.


• Internal and external presentations to promote AT activities. Publications.

 

Qualifications

 
Requirements: 

• Broad knowledge of agriculture and agronomy across product lines and regions. In-depth knowledge in application technology and the use of crop protection products. Excellent organizational and analytical skills. Good understanding of commercial and customer needs.

 

• Analytical and innovative thinking to identify problems and weaknesses and to develop novel approaches for improvement. Good understanding of the business needs. Good language, communication, presentation and training skills. Leadership, well developed interpersonal skills, team and service spirit.

 

• Experience of influencing others to adopt new approaches within their working environment. Experience of working with people from different cultures and demonstrate flexibility to meet their individual needs. Proven track record of delivery of application projects. Recognised technical expert in this discipline. Frontline experience in country or region organisations.
