This position is located at the EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) business and technology center for DuPont Safety & Construction, a business unit within DuPont based on Kevlar®, Tyvek®, Corian® and Nomex® brand products, located in Geneva, Switzerland. This position will work within the Automotive application development team which supports the Safety business segment. This business segment sells insulating materials to the electrical industry in the Nomex® family of product offerings. The applications development team is responsible for technical customer service for the Nomex® insulating products used in the industry as well as the development of new materials and new products to serve the growing needs. The Automotive business within DuPont Safety has demonstrated solid growth performance and is well positioned to support global growth in electrical infrastructure due to developing regions, as well as transportation development covering the auto-electrification demands, and wind energy growth around the world.
One technology area of focus for the Automotive team is the batteries market, which include lead–acid ("flooded", deep-cycle, and VRLA), NiCd, nickel–metal hydride, lithium-ion, Li-ion polymer, or zinc–air and molten-salt batteries. High performance insulating materials used in batteries are critical to the life and safety of the vehicle occupants. One material that is used in this space is DuPont Nomex® Paper insulation in various forms.
DuPont is seeking an individual who will serve as the batteries application development engineer within the Automotive applications development team in Geneva, Switzerland. This position will include interfacing with product development and quality complains resources working to serve the market to support current business and develop new products in this market. Preferred candidates will be able to demonstrate ability and experience associated with the design and performance of batteries to auto-electrification. Background and experience on the safety of batteries for electrical vehicles is a high differentiation.
This role will interface with a broad organization within DuPont in the globe, not only EMEA to improve the performance of electrical equipment. This will require close cooperation with our customer's design team, our materials technical specialists, and R&D team members as well as with our sales and marketing teams.
The individual will be responsible for directing and improving our testing capabilities for integrated insulation materials to help accelerate product development. The individual will maintain high level relationships with the global certifiers of materials. The position requires occasional travel between the DuPont centers and customers in the globe, increasingly you will be part of a global team of design specialists supporting global program.
