Would you like to become a part of this? The Global Access (GA) department at F. Hoffmann-La Roche, Ltd. based in Basel, Switzerland is seeking a Global HTA (Health Technology Assessment) Evidence Lead to join the Global HTA Evidence group within the Access Center of Excellence (ACE). In this position you will report to the Global HTA Evidence Team Enabler based in South San Francisco, USA.


As a Global HTA Evidence Lead you will engage with the global organization (commercial, development, medical affairs) and local market access representatives to develop the HTA Evidence strategies and packages supporting decisions which determine access to Roche’s innovative offerings.


You will work in cross-functional teams designing pivotal trials to develop the evidence package used by payers and other HTA bodies to support pricing and access strategies. Furthermore, you will also design evidence generation plans, and generate insights to address molecule and disease area questions that inform product development, access strategies and the broader integrated business. You will also contribute to functional, cross-functional, enterprise-wide or external initiatives that shape our business and healthcare environments including the application of novel methodologies used to support HTA/Payer decision-making.


Your responsibilities include:



  • Design and implement HTA/Payer evidentiary strategies by identifying access evidence gaps and needs and recommending risk mitigation strategies that consider the trade-offs between various evidence decisions supporting Global Payer & Pricing strategies versus other business priorities

  • Develop an understanding of the broader business and development context and how evidence can impact access and broader portfolio strategies

  • Collaborate with colleagues across the organization to provide expertise required for the preparation of evidentiary plans and their application within HTA / reimbursement dossiers and payer negotiations

  • Provide expert input into the design of clinical development programs and Integrated Evidence Plans to ensure evidence needs for country HTA/Payers are considered within the global development and commercialization strategies

  • Adapt, maintain, and utilize internal qualitative HTA/payer evidence requirements assessment tools that inform clinical development and integrated evidence planning

  • Liaise with country market access leads to gather feedback on development programs and weigh trade-offs that generate recommendations to the development teams

  • Communicate global clinical development and access evidence plans to relevant functions and countries as necessary regarding changes in development programs that may impact access evidence needs

  • Maintain expert knowledge of the external HTA/payer environment, decision-making landscape and competitor evidence strategies to ensure evolving access requirements and methodologies are shared with the wider GA community and incorporated into evidence strategies

  • Ensure all functional activities are strategically aligned with the Access Strategy Lead and other functions within Global Access and the wider organization

  • Lead or contribute to cross-functional working groups/teams within an existing global community

  • Build and maintains relationships with relevant external HTA/payer and policy experts and contribute to the development of relevant methodologies

To be successful we believe you need previous experience in product development, regulatory, medical affairs or an access related function and six or more years experience in the pharmaceutical or related industry working successfully within a highly matrixed environment.


What else should you have in your toolbox?



  • Masters or Doctoral level degree in a relevant discipline (MD, PharmD, PhD or MSc in health economics, epidemiology, public health, biostatistic, statistics or life science disciplines are preferred)

  • Extraordinary communication & influencing skills to ensure complex access topics are described and understood across leaders in both commercial and development business areas

  • Proven ability to learn quickly, critically evaluate and synthesize data from multiple sources to inform reimbursement and access strategies and tactics

  • Extensive knowledge of health technology assessment, clinical research and development methods, and international payer evidence requirements

  • Previous experience working with evidence to support HTA/Payer and market access decision-making

  • Team player with a positive mind-set who can work effectively with all key partners (including both local and global colleagues)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Track record of research publications and other research outputs of high quality is beneficial

  • An agile and collaborative mindset
