We are currently seeking a Corporate Insurance Manager for the Corporate Insurance team in Basel. As a Corporate Insurance Manager you will be the main responsible person arranging insurance programs and risk management activities for Syngenta property around the world supporting our business so that they can focus on growing the business and improving global food security.
Role Purpose:
Responsible to provide support and advise to protect the business and overall Syngenta against hazardous exposures through adequate risk financing tools in alignment with the company’s general strategy such as traditional insurance, self-insurance (deductible levels, captives) and other financing models in a cost-efficient manner.
Act as a key member of the corporate insurance function within Legal responsible for group-wide design, implementation and compliance of a corporate insurance/risk management strategy by identifying and analyzing hazardous exposures in non-life lines such as Property Damage and Business Interruption, Supply Chain and Transport and ensure adequate risk financing.
Assist with set-up of Liability Insurance programs
Manage claims within the main areas as well as provide assistance with Liability claims
Accountabilities:
Primarily within Property Insurance lines, ensure comprehensive and consistent insurance or financial protection across Syngenta. This includes the set-up of global risk prevention and control measures such as guidelines for claim management risk assessment of manufacturing sites and supply chain, seamless integration of new business activities into existing programs
Support group functions and business units in the area of insurance related topics
Communicate the risk finance/insurance policy to internal stakeholders
Actively promote the group through networking with key partners in the insurance community
Develop and maintain strong network within the insurance community
Ensure timely and accurate insurance advice to group companies despite limited staff resource
Take part in actively and efficiently manage the captive companies in accordance with applicable reporting standards and general corporate guidelines
Support and take actively part in efficiently manage external advisers (insurance brokers, captive managers, loss adjusters) through precise task settings and monitoring expenses and achievements
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or relevant technical diploma or equivalent
Requires in-depth knowledge and understanding within property insurances, risk management or other relevant field which would typically be gained through at least 5 to 8 years of experience
Good fundamental knowledge of other insurance lines is an advantage
Knowledge about captive insurance set-up is an advantage
At least 5 years of experience in corporate insurance or in an insurance company having worked with multi-national clients and international insurance programs
Hands on experience in global insurance programs/structures
Fluent in English (writing and speaking) and German
