The Operations Research & Air Traffic Management department is responsible for innovation to further optimize the flight operation regarding efficiency, punctuality, costs and ecological impact. As an Intern Operations Research Software Engineer with focus to research, you will be part of a small team and support it in various projects and tasks.

Your Duties

• Analyze different flight operational subjects like efficiency, punctuality, aircraft rotation, slot swapping, flight path optimization and arrival/departure wave optimization


• Assess and design technical and procedural measures for potential savings in collaboration with other departments like Flight Dispatch, Network Operations, Slot Manager, Operation Control Center


• Draft and programming of functions to gather data, to process, to store and distribute it by interfaces


• Design and development of functional User Interfaces for decision making in daily flight operation


• Data analysis for single or multiple flights using Flight Data Monitoring and Data Warehouse tools

Your profile

• Bachelor degree and knowledge in Computer Science is a must, Master student is of advantage


• Good written and spoken German and English skills


• Good skills in database processing, programming and script languages like SQL, Python, VBA, VBScript, JS and HTML including experinces with CSS, XML or JSON.


• Experiences with C#, Angular or LAMP-Stack is of advantage


• Advanced user knowledge of MS Office products (Excel, Word, Power Point, OneNote)


• Highly motivated to practice research in a professional environment


• Knowledge about Flight Operations and associated processes is not a must but of advantage


• Self-dependence with very proactive attitude and creativity


• Follows an analytical approach and acts as team player

Starting date: September 01, 2019 or upon agreement

Duration: 6 months

Salary:

CHF 2'500.- per month for Bachelor degree

CHF 3'000.- per month for Master degree
