As the Head of Web Development, you lead a team of software engineers, which are primarily working on web development with .Net core and Angular. In this role you will be part of the SWISS-IT management and the Digital Delivery Lab of Lufthansa Group.

In the Digital Delivery Lab of the Lufthansa Group, our software engineers create the digital customer journey of the future for SWISS, Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines. With our in-house solutions, we significantly contribute towards our goal of providing our customers a best in class digital travel experience.

With your passion for people, you continuously develop the skills of your team members. You interpret your role as an enabler shaping your team towards successfully operating in a cross-functional, agile business context and across different locations. With your excellent communication skills, you are able to represent perfectly your team and the Digital Delivery Lab with stakeholders of various levels and backgrounds all over the Lufthansa Group.

A sound technical background and hands-on experience in writing software code is taken for granted and you have a proven track record of delivering software successfully. In addition you have a strategic thinking which ensures that we work with the right technologies and you have experience as first line manager.

As a Senior Manager you are directly reporting to the Head of Digital Delivery Lab, and as such part of our team of more than 120 software engineers in Bale, Zurich, Belgrade and Gdansk.

Your Duties

• Lead a team of onsite, near- and offshore developers


• Develop the skills of your team to keep pace with marked needs


• Owning the architecture responsibility of the solutions developed by your team


• Define and maintain the web development technology roadmap


• Responsibility to create and maintain a productive work collaboration between different geographical locations


• Create an environment in which cross-functional teams can perform


• Manage technical evolution of the development environment


• Develop tools and processes to improve software engineering productivity and quality.


• Own the technical relationships with vendors and partners


• Communicate project/program progress within the core team and external stakeholders


• Recruitment and on-boarding of new talents


• Partner with application management team to implement DevSecOps


• Implement software quality measures


• Be present in the different locations and interact with business stakeholders and counterparts along the Lufthansa Group


• Manage your cost center

Your profile

• Degree in computer science


• Excellent communication- and cooperation skills with internal and external partners


• Experienced in leading people as a line manager


• Team-player, flexible, proactive and able to work under pressure


• Strategic thinker


• Multiyear hands-on experience in software development (preferably in .net)


• Excellent German and English knowledge; written and spoken


• Experienced with agile, DevSecOps and cloud computing


• Broad technical background
