Security Engineer Detection and Response (80 -100%)

Security Engineer Detection and Response (80 –100%)


Join our enthusiastic team of security engineers and face the challenge to bring the threat detection and response platform of Open Systems to the next level. Together with the team you will discuss, shape, specify and implement solutions that are capable of handling security-relevant information from services running on thousands of devices and from additional selected third-party sources. You will implement systems to provide intelligent insights into security-relevant data and processes.


Responsibilities: 



  • Work on major software components, systems and features

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software


Minimum qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field

  • Interest in the following data processing technologies: Kafka, ELK stack, Hadoop ecosystem, Apache Spark

  • Experienced in software development in one or more general purpose programming languages

  • Passion for sustainable software development

  • Interest and ability to learn other coding languages as needed

  • Fluency in English


Preferred qualifications:



  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related technical field

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience

  • Experience with security monitoring solutions such as Snort, Suricata, Bro, SiLK, Netflow or CarbonBlack

  • Knowledge in Perl, Python, Go, Scala

  • Fluency in German or motivation to learn German 


Furthermore, we expect basic knowledge and a high motivation to participate in a coached training program in these areas:



  • Knowledge of Linux operating systems

  • Understanding networking in general and the major internet protocols

  • Knowledge of network security concepts and practices 


You will join one of our small development teams that works with agile methods. The team will rely on you to focus on its goals and efforts as a team player while being able to work independently. At Open Systems we are passionate about what we do. The pursuit of technical advancement is at the center of our attention. You will be based at our office in Zurich (CH) and will get the opportunity to work out of our office in the Silicon Valley (US) for a few months. As part of the Mission Control team, you share operational duties with your colleagues.
