The Institute of Anatomy at the University of Bern belongs to the Medical Faculty and teaches at the Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, and Veterinary Medicine. Seven independent, but highly collaboratively working groups conduct biomedical research in the fields of development and regeneration, lung development and pulmonary particle interactions, bacterial toxins and virulence factors, angiogenesis and cancer, as well as structural biology.


The group of Nadia Mercader studies the mechanisms of heart regeneration in the zebrafish. One focus is to understand how mechanical forces influence heart regeneration. Another focus is to understand epigenetic mechanisms influencing heart regeneration.

Tasks

  • We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral fellow to work in the field of heart regeneration

  • The Postdoctoral fellow will be asked to contribute to teaching for medical students and mentoring of Master and PhD students

Requirements

  • A competitive research track record with at least one first author publication in a peer-reviewed journal

  • Fluent in English including good scientific writing skills, knowledge in German will be a plus

  • Background in use of the zebrafish or mouse model organisms, genome editing, imaging and image analysis or bioinformatics are highly appreciated
