As a valued partner for effective decision-making, project, and clinical study execution, the Strategy Portfolio & Clinical Operations Function (SP&CO) maximizes Pharma Research and Early Development’s (pRED) portfolio value by enabling teams to progress projects efficiently & effectively, providing objective analysis and strategic context and by executing the clinical studies that bring medicine to patients.


The Biosample Operations group is a key strategic partner in Clinical Operations. The groups primary responsibility and accountability is to manage every sample taken in a pRED clinical trial. Biosample Operations has a strategic partnership with a key central lab


Job Purpose:



  • You are accountable for the delivery of the biomarker strategies and needs for bio sampling within a therapeutic area through proactive planning and partnering with Clinical Operations (pRED, gRED and PD), Biomarker Experts, and other relevant functions.

  • You ensure the effective and efficient management of biosample operational activities for projects and studies within their therapeutic area(s) in accordance with ICH/GCP standards and adherence to the highest standards of ethics and informed consent.

  • You line manage Biosample Operations Specialists (BOSs) through a matrix organization to support pRED clinical programs and studies.

  • As a line Manager, you are accountable for the performance of your direct reports.


Your key responsibilities are:



  • You provide operational guidance and input to develop and implement the biomarker strategy for a therapeutic area by partnering with the Biomarker and Experimental Medicine Leaders and other stakeholders.

  • You work with the Specialists in Biosample Operations to develop an overall strategy for the therapeutic areas. You collaborate with the Biomarker experts and Clinical pharmacologist to determine the sample types

  • You maintain and communicate an overview of upcoming projects and work with the Management to ensure that resources are identified and qualified in order to conduct the studies.

  • You are accountable for ensuring consistent and appropriate responses to ethics questions with regards to sampling and Roche repository policies.

  • You lead or contributes to the implementation of process improvements and initiatives and maintains effective partnerships with relevant stakeholders.

  • You contribute to build operational excellence in Biosample Operations through effective knowledge sharing within the group and with other functions
     


As a Manager, you:



  • Lead the Biosample Specialist team to maximize their capability and contribution to deliver high quality biosamples for clinical studies and projects.

  • You are accountable of the performance and the development of your team and maximise their contribution in keeping a high level of motivation.
     


Education / Qualifications:


A degree in life sciences and previous experience in a Pharma or a CRO in handling the operational needs for biosample management in either/both early and late stage projects and studies.


knowledge of clinical development and management of clinical studies is a must.


You demonstrate expertise and you can justify a solid track record in managing teams with successful outcomes. You can show your ability to think strategically and develop, implement and lead a strategic plan.
