The School of Life Sciences and Facility Management is located in an attractive setting in Wädenswil, which is situated on the Lake of Zurich. The Food Chemistry research group is part of the interdisciplinary Institute of Food and Beverage Innovation. For the analytical support in different research projects we are looking for a qualifiedPostdoc in Food Chemistry (100 %)In your projects, you will run, develop and establish analytical methods by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) with the aim of targeting and characterising non-volatile quality markers in raw food materials and analytically following their evolution along selected food value chains. Your scientific contribution in the frame of interdisciplinary research projects will enable you to establish future tools for quality and safety assessment of food raw materials and the food produced thereof.Applicants require a completed MSc in Food Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biotechnology or in a closely related field plus at least 3 years of active research experience (PhD) in the field of chemical characterisation of non-volatile metabolites in food or plant materials by LC-MS. Ideally, you are dedicated, motivated and have hands-on experience in liquid chromatography combined with different mass spectrometer equipment and the related operating software tools. Furthermore, you have experience in data treatment and interpretation by means of statistical tools. In addition, you have the skills to disseminate your research findings in both scientific publications and at conferences and within our analytical team by the implementation of the newly established methods on standard operating procedure level. Apart from being able to work well collaboratively in a team environment, the successful candidate should be highly motivated, creative and curious. Fluent command of English (both written and spoken) is mandatory and knowledge of German is beneficial.

This position is within a young and dynamic, recently established research group, equipped with state of the art instruments in the field of liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. We also offer the possibility to gather experience working as an analytical scientist in an interdisciplinary research environment, where you will be highly encouraged to communicate your research findings in different scientific formats.

The research will be carried out at the ZHAW in Wädenswil for a period of 12 months (with the possibility of extension).
