Research Engineer for Computational Electromagnetics

Liechtenstein, SchaanReference No: 9205

What's the role?

Being a member of an interdisciplinary expert team within our research and development department you will perform coupled multi domain simulations with an emphasis on electromagnetics. You will be able to leverage your technical know-how in a global setting and directly impact the development of highly innovative products. As a true R&D community member you will follow technology trends in your field, participate in scientific conferences and share relevant research and market observations with your peers.

Who is Hilti?

If you’re new to the industry, you might not have heard of us. We provide leading-edge tools, technologies, software and services for the global construction sector. We have a proud heritage, built over 75 years, and a worldwide reputation for pioneering products and exceptional service.

With some 28,000 people in more than 120 countries, which we’re looking to expand, we’re a great place for you to show us your worth, step up to new challenges and grow your career.

What does the role involve?

In this role you drive the simulative dimensioning and optimization of different electro-magnetic applications – like rotation or linear motors, inductive heating etc. At the same time you know how to combine the different required physical domains (Electrodynamic, mechanic, thermodynamic,…) in your models to reach the specified goal. With different machine learning based optimization strategies you support our development engineers to find the global optima for our technical concepts. Doing so, you apply different simulation methods and models and evolve them in development and technology projects – also in cooperation with external partners. This happens in strong collaboration with our development- and testing-departments.

93% of our people say they’re proud to work for Hilti, thanks to the quality of our products and the way we look after our people.

What do we offer?

Show us what you’re made of and we’ll offer you opportunities to move around the business – to work abroad, experience different job functions and tackle different markets. It’s a great way to find the right match for your ambitions and achieve the exciting career you’re after.

We have a very thorough people review process, unlike any we know of in any other business. We screen everyone in the company in a yearly career performance matching process. It means we can pair talent with opportunities - developing our people in their current roles or challenging them to work in new ways or in new places. It’s how we find the right fit and further our teams personally and professionally.

Additionally, we offer you a competitive salary and a wide range of benefits, these may include day care for your kids or a free in-house gym.

Why should you apply?

You will be working on the forefront of innovation and have decisive power on the future development of a specific product group.

What you need is:

  • Master degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or related fields

  • Profound professional experience in the field of numerical simulation of electric drives or electro-magnetic applications.

  • Experience in commercial multi-domain software packages like e.g. ANSYS and LSDyna

  • Know-how in model validation using experimental data and an ability to solution-analyze technical problems

  • Strong team and communication abilities as well as excellent English skills
